Labels: children's literacy
While searching Youtube for clapping patterns for my forthcoming posts on Literacy in the Playground, I found this great clip that celebrates clapping as a part of musical expression. It's only short, so I hope you have time to enjoy it. Body percussion is a great family activity to help develop children's sense of rhythm. And rhythm helps kids decode words by working out syllables.
Thanks to the many people who responded to my recent call for favourite playground games, particularly clapping or skipping games. If you have one you'd like to send me, there's still time, and I'd love to have them. Use the Contact me tab, up near my blog header. If possible, include your name, website (so readers can link to you), words and directions.
