Thanks to me finally catching Larry Ferlazzo's October post where he published his Best Web 2.0 Applications for Education - 2009, I discovered Dvolver moviemaker. Larry's post said it was simple to use but I admit I was skeptical, because if anyone is going to struggle, it will be this poor old chook. But it really was a breeze to use.
By selecting a scene of background and sky, choosing a very simple plot and characters, and writing brief dialogue for up to three scenes, you set up your mini movie. Add music, title and credits and you're done.
This is another web place for kids to have fun and write for an authentic audience. I have read one teacher's evaluation of the site's characters as being drug addicts and dropouts, so you will need to check the site yourself first, as usual. Was I being naive? I just thought the character art work was a little unusual. See what you think. You don't need to register, and you can send to a friend via email, or embed the code on your site. Here's one I made last year, around Thanksgiving (or try this link if you can't see the embedded movie below.)
