Teaching Kids to Write

Teaching Kids to Write
by Susan Stephenson,

Because I love to write myself, I’m passionate about encouraging young writers. Often those young writers need LOTS of encouragement, particularly in cultures where sporting heroes dominate. Often, too, kids need explicit teaching. Today I want to share a list of articles, published at The Book Chook, for teachers and parents about writing with kids. You’ll find ideas for getting kids started on writing, tips on the craft of writing pitched directly at young writers, suggestions for trying different formats, links to writing prompts, and more. Many of these articles have generously been shared at The Book Chook by children's authors keen to help kids.

I’m gathering these articles and embedding them here because I want to make it easier for The Book Chook readers to find themed topics in one central place. I’ll add to the list over time, and because it’s a Listly list, the content will update dynamically. You might also be interested in my list of Creative Prompts for Kids, (you may find there’s some crossover with the list embedded below) and my list Encouraging Children to Read, Write and Create.

If you've enjoyed this post, or any others at The Book Chook, I'd love you to help me spread my literacy, learning and literature ideas by promoting via Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, StumbleUpon, G+ or any other way you decide.
